Dear Valued Customers,

Rick Johansen started to live his dream in 1985 when he and his partner started Air Rite. They set out to provide quality service on the Central Coast. Over the next ten years, they built what today is one of the longest-running locally-owned HVAC contractors. His commitment to excellence was only outshone by his commitment to community support. Rick diversified Air Rite’s service offerings to include restaurant equipment and hence, kept both him and his crew busy, no matter the weather.

Air Rite is continuing its family tradition and in 2020 will be passing on the reins to Rick’s son, Arne Johansen.

Arne has been riding in the front seat of Rick’s red truck since he was 10 years old, soaking up the street smarts and field knowledge that his dad would provide. By working alongside his dad, Arne has inherited the work ethic and loyalty necessary to take Air Rite for the next thirty years. Arne completed Small Business Management courses at Cuesta College early in his career. He has gone on to complete the preparation for and receipt of his contractor’s license, ensuring his up-to-date knowledge on trade safety, regulations, and contract law. Rick will continue to work part-time and begin to enjoy his well-earned retirement.

As California strives to decrease our environmental impact, Air Rite strives to improve energy efficiency and decrease its carbon footprint. He has taken steps to work with closely local construction contractors and developers. Arne has grown the company by providing new installations and services to our county’s healthy construction industry while continuing to honor the small-town service model his dad founded the company on.

Arne, his wife Nena, and their two sons are proud to live and work on the Central Coast. They are investing in the future of their family by investing in their community. You will continue to see the Air Rite name as a supporter of local youth sports teams, schools, CASA, Lighthouse Foundation, 4-H, and FFA clubs as well as members of the Heritage Foundation, SLO County Builders Exchange, and on the Chamber of Commerce list of preferred vendors.
